Hello

Après accord de Grant, qui est très ravi d'intervenir indirectement ici, voici un copier/coller d'un mail que je viens de recevoir de sa part, avec une liste de diffusion large, donc rien de personnel

Désolé, c'est en anglais...

Greetings to all my safari friends out there

I am writing this email from Maun, where I have been spending much of the last month.  I did make a visit to Savuti Camp for four days.  In that time I managed to witness the resident male leopard mating with a female, which was most fortunate.  This was my first time ever to see leopards mating in daylight, in the open, and not shy…which was a bonus.  I got a few acceptable images, and I have attached one for your interest.  Let’s hope we have some little leopard cubs running about in the area in three months time.

Some other good news to share with you is that the foremost of our local wildlife magazines, Africa Geographic, has asked me if I would make regular submissions to their website.  So from this week onwards I am now the official Africa Geographic ‘blogger’ which sounds like a bit of a dodgy word to a bush boy like me but once I asked my super smart girlfriend what it meant, and once she explained it to me, I thought hey, good idea.  So I get to post a written submission of a couple hundred words every other week or so, as well as one or two images.  My very first blog is up and ready to read now.  Check it out at http://www.africageographic.com/blogs/.  I will do my best to make them interesting.  Those guests who were on a recent Natural Habitat trip with me in September through Jacana Camp may remember the sighting I wrote about.

For those folk out there who have visited Botswana in the dry winter months, I have attached one more image to this email.  It is of a ‘green season’ sunset, taken at Savuti.  Yes, in summer it can rain here a bit, but the chance also exists to get to see sunsets just like this one.  Due to there not being a handily positioned elephant around when the sky went this colour, I had to make use of the Landrover as a silhouette!

Some other snippets of bush information, the baby impala were being born last week in the Linyanti when I was there, and word is from the Kings Pool and Linyanti area that the Border Boys are alive and well, but were chased to the east by Silver Eye and his brother.

Kind regards

Grant

Je trouve la photo de l'éléphant très belle aussi mais peut être pas un coup de coeur... C'est tellement peu habituel cette pose, qu'on a l'impression qu'il est mort  :-[
